@Mark I met the old habs legend "Le Petit Viking" today. Aka Mats Näslund.

Maybe you're too young to remember him. :p I see him at work every now and then, he actually works as a handyman these days. He played back when hockey players didn't make a fortune :p
I knew of him.

He will probably top himself.
That's what my wife said. 19 years old with weapons, a dead brother, and a federal manhunt that has Boston in lockdown now? He's going to be found, but he'll be found dead.

Seem affordable. Is the output balanced enough for prog rock n the stuff WE listen to?
They're fairly neutral, maybe lacking a little on the bass side for that big kick punch, but that doesn't matter much for rock. EQ can fix most of the problems imo. They sound too relaxed and slow without eqing the mids down for rock/metal. Stuff like Daft is awesome too, but the bass probably is lacking a little to get the full experience for electronic music. You can turn them up for pretty good bass but they distort a little at this point. Hardly noticeable though... The treble is quite nice too, not harsh and quite clear.

Generally, they sound awesome as long as you get an EQ on it. Unless you really love massive bass and would use them for a lot of electronic/hip-hop etc I'd recommend them. Although, I'd say they really aren't tight enough for really fast stuff like thrash metal. The drums and the guitars get muddled together and there is not enough of a clear distinction between the two.

The sound staging is awesome, they give a really good stereo spread. Love the way they can make things seem towards the back or front and far left/right. One of the best headphones I've heard for this. And I've heard (no pun intended :p) these give the best sound staging in the price range.

They sound much better after the break in period too, when I first got them I thought they didn't sound too good, but after about 5-10 hours they improved drastically. They're still improving now too, I heard max break in is about 100 hrs and I've only had them less than 1 week.

And I forgot the best part.. the vocals in these :sheik: I've never heard vocals sound so vivid before, I'd recommend them alone for this!

In terms of comfort, they very comfortable as long as you don't have large ears (mine are fairly small) and are extremely light. They do make your ears overheat a bit after extended listening, but nothing too annoying. The noise cancelling is quite good and I'm pretty sure most of the sound doesn't get out too, so other people can't hear you mostly.

I have HD205's. I'm not really a connoisseur when it comes to headphones, are those not that bad?
Honest opinion? They're probably as good as you get for entry level headphones. For people who listen to music casually for no more than a couple of hours at the time, and who do not care if they're listening to 128 MP3's or FLAC files. If that's all you're looking for then they're perfect. I'd much rather shell out money for those than the ones Interdestroyer is recommending. As they're much pricier but only slightly better, imo.

Imo it doesn't really become fun until you hit the 180-200$ mark. That's where the headphones start packing instrument separation, good soundscaping and wide frequency reponse.

The next ones I'll be getting, in a year or two are up about 500-600 bucks, getting a bit tired of the lack of a phantom center when listening to music. Phantom center is what you get in any mid range set of stereo speakers, the feeling that when the snare drum is hit it's being hit infront of you, rather than in your head. That's a tad complicated to do with headphones, but doable if you cough up enough dough.
