They're only worth 600 bucks if you force it into your head that you need to have them. For instance, I've had my 558's (they have no phantom center) for almost three years. For the first year I was over the hill with them, then I started reading more into it, started producing music with a friend and suddenly you know much more about it. Then I started noticing how the snare drum litterally plays inside my head when listening to music, which is starting to drive me insane. I tried a pair of Koss headphones a while back, they are about 900 bucks. It's like listening to music for the first time.
