Woke up late in the afternoon, went out for drinks with some friends and now watching some football. Almost like every other day lately.

I would prefer for the day not to exist, i disagree with the sentiment and the cynicism. This does not change the fact that I am alone cooking a delicious meal and my girlfriend is drunk in a bar surrounded by lonely drunk men whilst every other couple in the world caught in the delusion of the capitalist ideology that we need ONE day to celebrate our relationships and are happy together.

/is not a cynic.

I like the "i disagree with the sentiment and the cynicism" part. But as you know, like New Year's Eve, it's all about external expectations imposed upon the rest of us. Not usually my favorite kind of holiday.

But hey -- it's not bad to get a little token remembering around that time and not feel left out if you can help it. That's what guys don't always get about why it's important to women.

Fortunately my wife is pretty cool about these things. Mother-in-law's birthday aside, we don't ignore the day but rather do something small -- like exchange cards and buy maybe a little chocolate to share with each other. And as someone who has experienced some of the extremes of the day over the years, I think that approach is my favorite.

I kind of like it.

I liked the thing in school where you'd give candies and cards to your classmates, and I like surprising friends with little things now. I don't like the pressure, but I do like the gesture.

The school cards and candy was probably the best expression of the day there is. Rock-hard, stale heart candies and 10-cent Sesame Street V-Day cards of "Be mine!" are the bomb. :agree:

Happy Valentine's Day, Kate!!

Say, in other news, how about Mr. Oscar Pastorius? You know people with disabilities have finally arrived in the sporting world when they not only participate in the Olympics, but they make an appearance on sportsconvict.com.

Janna: don't feel so bad about your Valentine's Day call. At least you didn't get shot for Valentine's Day. :shifty:
yes you are right
survived another day :weee:

I'm surprised no one has talked about the Russian meteor incident yet.
Oh wow, weird. Strangely I had a dream about meteors last night. I must be psychic.

They'll likely try and blame the US, distracting everyone with DA14, knowing all the while some was going to hit Russia.
