It's true, though, in a way. But the thing about copyright is that it does not protect content, only form. Ideas, concepts etc. are not protected. If I wanted to write a story based on the concept forbidden love, forbidden by either society or family feuds just like Shakespeare did when he wrote Romeo and Juliet, I could, as long as I did it my own way and in my own style. But the concept / plot itself, is not protected. As a general rule. There's always the possibility of ideas and concepts becoming so detailed that it's inseparable from the maker's style or form. I could write a book about a magician boy who went to school and had to fight against evil spirits and stuff, but as soon as I were to name that place something similar to Hogwarts and team him up with ginger friends and stuff, I'd have a problem :D

NOT going down that road again, though.
