Gervais is not funny, and the office is cringeworthy, Nzoric, i am disappoint
Finding someone or something funny is subjective and a matter of perspective. Saying "I don't find Ricky Gervais funny" would be a proper statement. Starting Gervais isn't funny, as if it's a fact, is quite stupid.

Also, I find Louis CK cringeworthy. But you don't see me saying "Louis is cringeworthy". Personal opinions about subjective topics cannot be considered as facts.

Ps: @Kate: I saw Stephan Merchant's stand up. That shit was boring!

I find not so much Louis CK cringeworthy as his actual audience, the wide audience he has gained in the last few years through what I would describe as degrading his material. In general it's quite sad that comedy often is an arm race to the bottom in order to feed people's basest urges.

Carlin was even worse, of course. His very last special was quite good, but almost everything I've seen before that was dominated by this sewage material that makes people in the audience yell out stupid shit.

That's not a fact, it's your personal opinion, so say that you find it boring.

I find your sarcasm disturbing.

That's not a fact, it's your personal opinion, so say that you find it boring.

That's was faux-hypocrisy. It's supposed to be subtly funny.

I thought Carlin's last 2 shows were the worst when compared to his previous material. It was less about making people laugh and more about preaching his ideas. I could sense that his end was near, so he was blurting out all that he had to say about how wrong this world is. There were funnier and smarter moments, like his opening in 'Life is worth losing'. But I find those 2 hard to watch.

But I hope you weren't serious about your post.
Which one?

imo it's ironic that everyone has it in for music that becomes commercial and clearly not about the art anymore and just about selling as many copies as possible (same for Hollywood). But when comedians use no other metric than their popularity to decide what material they will perform noone seems to notice that it's the same thing happening there.

I could see how that could be true.

Most comedians do that if you watch them regularly for a long period of time, especially when they rely on specific demeanor or "personality" trait to portray their funny (see Richard Lewis, Jerry Seinfeld). I find Gervais and C.K. hilarious at times but I can only tolerate them in small doses. I wouldn't say I have a favorite comedian because they always end up boring me if I watch them over and over.
