or cross the bridge to oakland for a dose of reality
Hey, I used to live within the sound of gunshots on the border of Oakland, Emeryville, and Berkeley. There's an anti-drug bus the Berkeley police used to deploy in the neighborhood that was armored and set up as a mobile command center to deploy against drug gangs -- the peeps in the 'hood used to call it "Orca". So I knowz reality.

Was just reading this: http://it-jobs.fins.com/Articles/SB...90/How-Google-s-Marissa-Mayer-Manages-Burnout

Don't think I've ever read anything that's made me want to tell someone to f off more. :D
She's an idiot, high on the fumes emanating from her own Panucci hole. There's a difference between quality and quantity. It's what makes restaurants like Incanto different from the all-you-can-barf bar at the Olive Garden. You get people who are putting in 130-hour workweeks, and I can guarantee you that I could get a half curious chimp to outperform them in most mental skill tests by that 120th hour. There's working hard and there's working stupid.

Exactly, how can you possibly do high quality creative work on 18h days? It's not creative by that point, it's just a grind. Massive workloads and not enough people.

I remember at one point I worked liked 11h days 7 days a week for about 2-3 months for a project that was urgent. After that period I was really fried though.

Cops do love coffee. But taking photos in the 'hood wasn't advisable. It was bad enough walking those parts and coming across a clan on their front steps who would approach me saying, "Heyyyyy... white boyyyyyyy!!!"

Of course, they were just giving me shit. But I wasn't gonna test them.

It's a surefire way to take a $100,000/year employee and make him/her perform like a $22,000/year employee.

I can't believe there are still people who have DSL out there :D
Some of us don't operate live webcam sites of our decks and require the fiber optics, yo.

So your definition of broadband excludes DSL? You're quite the innovator.
 I guess my 1.5Mpbs DSL downlink counts as narrowband. :shifty:

It's amazing how hard it is to find good coffee. :disagree:

Technically he's right in that it's not broad. But in the popular meaning it's broadband if it exceeds 256kbps (just over Mark speed), whether it's broad or not. Like my 20mbps DSL.

I don't know the tech talk but when you order internet, broadband is a lot faster than DSL. They might mean the same thing but they aren't when it comes to the way providers market them.

From a guy who lives in a country with some of the worst broadband coverage in the first world.
