I assume books but 50 seems too low for that. Also it seems too high for just notebooks. Throw in some heavy duty folders, erasers, high quality mechanical pencils and expensive pens and you might just get there.

He's a bogan. Like those annoying mongs who play Farmville and chat to their mates all during class and don't realize how distracting it is. Sometimes I wish the Australian education system would disallow laptop use during class.
