Because it is. It's a form of personal metaphysics. Whether you have an organized lobby of whack jobs professing the magic of underpants or an organized lobby of yes-men who masturbate to Daniel Dennett... it's the same circus, different clowns, yo.

If you people want to dilute the meaning of the word 'religion' so that it fits your agenda, then that's just dishonest. People with similar interests, views, ideas and who are inspired by similar people or ideologies will always come together. And they will voice their opinions out loud so that they can attract more people who are like them. If you want to label that as religion, then you are heading down a very slippery slope. You risk calling any group of people a religion. Once you do that, you become blind to the differences between the groups, which IMO is a LOT!

I fully understand that you find people like me annoying. But you're not helping your cause by labeling us a 'religion'.

Sorry, it's a religion. Or an excuse for religious beliefs. Every human on earth has some positional attitude about this subject matter. The only difference is that a number of atheists want you to believe that they are the "special ones" and their beliefs are so different and unique in the universe that they deserve a special category unto themselves.

I find many in this forum who like to indulge in the same hobby too. Afterall, it wasn't me who started the 'Religion' sub-forum. If you don't like it, then you should either lobby for a rule that prohibits religious discussion, get the Religion sub-forum removed, or at the very least, ignore it altogether. And put me on the ignore list if I'm really as bad as you say I am.

Sorry, it's NOT a religion. The word 'religion' has a specific meaning, and is used in a specific context in the world today. You can make up personal definitions to include atheism into it, but I'm not buying it. It's just stupid and dishonest. Silence is NOT a genre of music. Atheism is NOT a religion!

I do tend to agree with Abel and Greg, Sheik. There is nothing wrong with discussing the viewpoint of atheism, but it seems sometimes you bring it up in really unnecessary places and in an antagonistic way. Being vociferous about one can be as irritating as the other. But then, what do I know

I brought up the 'miracle of god' thing as a joke. It was a reply to a specific post by a person who shares some of my views and sense of humour, and would get what I meant. Which you did. It's anti-atheists like X who took the post, and himself, a little too seriously and started to attack me for it and bring this whole discussion into the rest of the forum. Do these people even realize that we can talk about something and not always be serious about it?
