I've got a job interview tomorrow for corporate finance advisory and realize how stupid I was to even consider this, I have zero background in it, and no real interest. It sucks not knowing what you want to actually do and watching Juve is not a career.

I dread having to put up a show and pretending like i'm really keen when I'm not. But the interview is set up and I suppose it'll be good practice.
I don't know what's worse: choosing a career you have no interest in, or choosing an interest that'll guarantee you become a social outcast. :shifty:

It was incredible. The 747 carrying it is massive. Then the fighter jet trailing behind as the escort was pretty nuts ready to shoot someone down. lol

No idea. Was pretty fecking cool though.
So you watched a plane with a museum piece strapped on top. Not to be cynical about life, but I'm not sure I see why that would be such a show-stopper. It's not like you witnessed an actual launch where the night sky glows orange and you feel the blast of the engines. I guess I don't get it, not having been there...

Ouch. But you're totally right. Not knowing what you want to do is probably the hardest part of getting your next decent job. Good luck -- and yes, the practice is still good. Even if you leave the place thinking, "I'd hang myself if I had to work here with these idiots on these stupid projects." :D

Nah, not that. It's just that I relate on the having no interests other than being lazy part.
I'm not lazy :( but anyhoo what are you working as now? how did you decide on the job if it's of no interest? I did engineering and that shit bores me to death, I'd be damned if I have to decide which wall to use so that the soil doesn't collapse.

wait, so basically no one actually knows what they want to do, but you need a job anyway so you just go with what you can get/familiar with ie what you're qualified in?

I'm still in school and for engineering too! Mine is industrial which is boring as shit, so yeah. Not sure what kinda job I'm going to go for. Whatever comes along is fine with me.

I take it you did civil?

You may be spending your entire life figuring out what you want to do. Some people do. So often the question is what do you want right now, or what's working for you right now.

When I first got out of grad school, I did some long soul-searching during a recession that had me rethink a lot of things about what I liked to do and what I was less interested in doing. It took a long time to get there, and a long time to get a cool job again. But in the end, it was worth it. But looking back the biggest obstacle I overcame wasn't getting my next cool job, it was figuring out what I wanted to do professionally at that point in time with my life.

Not to scare you off, but just saying it's worth giving it the sort of respect a challenge like that deserves.

I've always been fascinated with space, space flight, etc. I've never been that close to it before and I love airplanes. Nothing special I guess if you don't have an interest in it. Some people go crazy when they see a certain bird for example, I just got excited cuz i've always been fascinated by it. :)

Haha, yup. Us engineers have style.
You are an engineer?

WHat you thinking of?
I wanna study philosophy. It means that I'm not interested in computer science anymore (which is my first degree) and neither do I want to study business administration, which is perhaps 2 things I can do to ensure I have a decent job that and a decent life.

One you reach around 30ish, that's when you need to start figuring stuff out especially when you plan on getting married and have a family for example. A career is what I would focus on first, once that is under raps then focus on the rest of your life. Nothing is worse than the stress of family life coupled with a job you hate going to every day. :D

what you want to do with your life and a job pretty seperate things, though might be closely related. work is more than not a means to an end(paying bills). Freedom is VERY expensive.

Something great just happened to me right now :touched:

Today was payday...I didn't expect to get more than 40$, my credit card is maxed out and I still owe 245$ to the University. Then...then I got surprised 288$ paycheck I wasn't expecting :MJ:
Now I can finally ask that chick I was seeing out on a date (nothing more than 50$ for both of us combined :shifty:)
