Unless Denver slipped under Fukushima lately, I think so.
So I got the nicest email out of the blue today. A woman named Daphne that I hired 7 years ago was a smart, young engineer. She worked for me and my company for two weeks before she jumped on a job that some sleazy recruiter approached her with at some investment bank after she started with us. Her coworkers gave her the nickname, after she left, of "10-Day Daphne".
After 7 years I haven't heard from her since. Until today when she wrote that she appreciated my "ethical and forward-thinking" management style, and that she regrets her decision to jump ship like that so early on as one of her biggest career errors. Particularly now that she's come more to recognize the difference between sleazeball employers and decent ones.
That was totally unexpected and pretty cool of her, actually.
