Disagreeing with homosexuality does not make one a homophobe. I think that's something we should all recognize.

However, hating people or actively pursuing ways to demean an entire group of people based on something as petty as sexuality is a clear sign of someone being a fairly terrible person.

Never mind then, in that case they're not homophobes. If a homophobe is someone who bashes and demeans them, then I take back all I said. I had the wrong definition.

We are making things subjective that aren't.

There are things that people cannot choose - Skin Colour & Sexuality.

There are things that people choose - Religion (I will refute any claims that this isn't a choice), socio/political Ideologies

For me the things that are sacrosant are where there is no choice, when people choose something then by making that choice they are open to criticism.

You're missing the point. Not me. People have the freedom to be as they will in public. The act of two men kissing in public is no less moral than a man and a woman kissing in public. Depending on self, one or both may be unappealing to you. However, that does not make you a homophobe.

I think to be a homophobe, there is a required hate associated with the concept or some vague belief that the act in itself is immoral.

So ALC may know people that dislike the act of homosexuality, but may not be homophobes. I think saying my friends are homophobes, but they're perfectly good people is catamount to saying my grandfather hates coons, but he's a good guy.

This is just my personal opinion. There really is no right or wrong answer.

oh please, we both know thats not how our society functions, and teh gya lobby is pushing real hard for anyone not accepting of that to be albelled as so just look at their commercail campaigns, what garbage, theres an obvious discrepancy in teh definition of the term, ehnce this here argument

I don't see anything wrong with basic intolerance or homophobia. It's your right to be intolerant too, the problem I have is with laws being passed, such as the ones to ban gay marriage, that limit the rights of individuals based on said intolerance.

IMO you can hate all you want but other people shouldn't have to live their lives affected by your beliefs. Trying to push tolerance on people who don't have or want it is stupid.

For lack of a better word. I run into those types quite often. When they ask me what I think of homosexuals, and I reply "Meh I don't really care" - it becomes their quest for the evening to tell me all those great things about being gay. Those types who think that if you're not vocally supportive of everything the gay community wants and requires you're a homophobe.
