Before I went travelling a friend of mine warned me, who knows what im like, that 'Australians are thick as shit'. I didn't give it too much creedence until I met some australians around Asia and did notice they were quite stupid - as one tried to convince me that Darwin was satan sent to trick humanity. I was only in aus for two days and I agree - Australians are thick as shit (no offence inter). Kiwi's aren't much better.

Hmm, I would agree if I were doing that. I would argue that in the case where every single person I have met from a country has iritiated me and I have found to be really really really stupid. Coupled to experiencing the culture & the media etc. Its fair for me to make that assumption. I am always open to meeting new people and don't judge them based on first impressions/preconceptions. But I have yet to meet an Australian to challenge my preconceptions.

I am not a cynic, I am a realist - political/social/economic. Cynicism is depressing, realism is....to quote douglas adams - 'Isn't enough to see that the garden is beautiful without needing to believe that there are fairies at the bottom?'.

My guitar teacher said to me last year - 'dumped your girlfriend, cut your hair, no sugar in your coffee....are you depressed?'
