Kate, how did your presentation go?

I was asked to go to an interview for a job in a cinema today, I worked through my interview technique last night and got ready for it. Turned up and they had asked 100 other people to turn up for an interview. The interview was standing up in front of the cinema and giving a 30 second speech on why you should get the job...I walked out. (partly because of hating public speaking, but mostly because I refuse to be judged on my ability to work based on something that holds ZERO relevance to who I am and my suitability for a job....a job that in no way involves public speaking)

How fucking lazy is that? You can't be arsed to read peoples applications and sort out who you want to interview, you just invite everyone who applied and go from there. Im pretty sure that doing that is not in any way indicative of how people work etc. Its an example of how extrovert and willing to beg you are.

Also in doing that, they missed out on me...one of the best workers you will get. If they read my application and contacted my referees they would have a far greater understanding of who I am and how good I am at any given job. Any judging by the other people that turned up I am probably the highest qualified and best worker they would get.

 - fuck em.

It was a bit of a mess; my lecturer ended up going a bit overtime and so we didn't have too much time left, so I talked quickly and ended up finishing too quickly as well. Oh well, I have another one to do on Tuesday and hopefully I can go first and get it out of the way.

And that is absolutely ridiculous. It is very unprofessional to not inform the candidates that this is what they are going to have to do, good on you for walking out. A huge reflection of the way they treat their own employees as well. Fuck them indeed.
