Indoctrination doesn't work like that. The seeds planted and watered in a childs mind from birth by those they trust the most and the entire world around them. Whether there is a god or not is immaterial because the views of the child will almost always be slanted towards what the parents and society believe.
what are you sayin is true in theory but it's far from the reality, for example here in Morocoo like you know Islam is the religion of the country and since our early ages and trough our schools we learn about Islam, and like you said the plant in our head seeds. but in most cases you 'll see these childs when they grow up drinking, smokin, havin sex wish is contradictory to those seeds planted in their heads wher they were young.
In most cases they don't became true practiciens of the religion until they figured it out by themselves or trough self experiences.
I don't know if you'll understand what i mean and sorry for my english ;)

Someone killing themselves over football is no stranger to me than someone going on a suicide mission in the name of a religion.
True dat. Pick your tribe of personal identity.

Word. That's what I think is sad, that people have nothing else more meaningful or worthwile to themselves.
I also think it's egomaniacal and, trite as it may sound, cowardly. But that's just me.

Only religion and education can save you from such delusions
 Good one.

Your English is excellent and I understand where you are coming from but I am talking about the one big question not the little rules. I believe that the religious mindset is harmful purely because if you can be made believe in systems that objectively are far-fetched then you are liable to be taken adavantage of to act in bad, bad ways. With religion it is more so than Science or other such things.

I'm not saying secularists can't be influenced but the prevalence and severity is higher amongst the religious. People should never, ever stop questioning and demanding proof.

That people raised within a faith somehow find it independently to be the one truth as you suggest is one of the most absurd notions I have ever heard. Your faith is a product of geography not design or self awareness. Were you born my brother you would have been born a Christian and the chances that you would find Islam would be very slim.

    Thats a whole different issue

I mean someone just taking his own life, be it for football, for a girl, religion, anything.
It's the same issue, it's a different circumstance.
    Who's more of an idiot?

A River fan who hangs himself tonight, or Pete Dunham from the GSE?
    PETEY FUCKIN DUNHAM!
Only religion and education can save you from such delusions
    Religion is a delusion.
in wich way ?? could you care to explain Andy ?
Religion is not the natural explanation to anything, if you were born and set free in the woods, no religion on the planet would randomly enter your brain to explain the shit that's around you.
That's a fine quote but its not true :D
    Yes, it is.
Don't worry bro, i just want to hear their opinions on this subject and every body is free to beleive what he wants ;)
You want my opinion? I think religion is the worst thing on the planet, and anyone who is hardcore any religion should have their tongues cut out so they can't spread the lies they've been told.
You are correct, given the high proportion of Engineers that are Islamic Fundamentalists or rather the other way around.

Everyone is free to beleive what he wants.
Okay, well I believe that Jesus Christ was a gay black man really named Joshua, and he sucked and fucked his way across the Middle East where he was then taken up in a space ship by a guy named Mohammed and they fucked and fucked and fucked until there was no fucking left and Mohammed left and Jesus was sad but he was the first man to give birth, and he gave birth to another Mohammed, the one the Mooslimers talk about, and I believe, since I'm allowed to believe what I want, that he looks like this:

Hard core ? pray 5 times a day? fast?
    Nah, this nigga slow.

I agree with the bolded part btw. It's what made Arab thought so prominent in the middle ages, bringing in hellenistic philosophy certainly contributed in that respect. It's just that your own hubris makes you convinced that if someone questions, that will necessarily result in him denouncing religion. If he hasn't denounced religion, then he hasn't questioned his beliefs.

Yea, but you have no proof, that's why it's called faith and not FACT.

Well, then why do so many do it? Also, why do so many Muslims do it?
