Well it would be embarrassing to win the EL. The only thing more embarrassing would be to suck and not pass the group stage. :D
I don't agree, any trophy is good from a football perspective and a marketing one.

Too many clowns run around here not thinking about any of this, when in fact winning the EL is what brought clubs like CSKA up to the forefront of football. It's also good to get knockout experience with this team so we can prepare for the CL, but hey, what do I know.

Rah rah, lets lose, forza Juve.

Hey guys, I got a terrific joke for you. The #3 club in Serie A.. are you ready for it?.. plays in the Europa League and gets eliminated in the group stage. :D
You's a funny guy, Marty.

Pragmatically speaking, yes. In terms of prestige, no. What would you think of Real Madrid winning the EL? Wouldn't that be fairly amusing, the all time most CL winner? CSKA is another matter, they've never been there before.

Still, in practical terms every match you try to win, that's simple.

Then why not just refuse to play in the EL?

If clubs think it's embarrassing to win it, then a club like Juventus should just refuse to play or forfeit the competition.
