    It's chronic.

    I get it about once a year due to the type of contacts I wear. I wear hard gas-permeable lenses for 7 days, take them out and put them back in after a night. Every once in awhile I get this because the lenses themselves become great breeding grounds for bacteria and after I take them out the bacteria spreads within my eye since the lens is no longer there to contain them.
