Na, we were all out of towners. This lady at the counter suggested there were clubs if we went north on Halsted, but not to go too north unless we wanted to be in 'boystown' :shifty:
 yes, well greek town clubs/bars are pretty a greek and balkan crowd. Then a little further up is lincoln park, yuppie central. And then a little further up is boystown :p

Never tried. What are the advantages?
It's a lot more configurable plus the interface is a lot better. For example you can do things like map mac address to ip, so the same host always gets the same ip. And then combine static ips with dns caching, so that the host gets a hostname.

Not terribly interesting if you only have one machine on the network, but if you have more than one you can do stuff like
machine1 $ ssh machine2

For instance my HTC has a static ip and hostname is droid.

Nice. I always wanted DHCP reservation, so I might go for this. Plus now that I got my work laptop, I have 3 devices, desktop, laptop and phone. I think I'll give it a try today. I did read about it many months ago, but was reluctant to go for it.

@Asif, it's there. I checked it just now.

Apparently you can brick your router if you're not careful, but Linksys is well supported for this.

I read the tutorial in their forums, and it seemed to work fine for many of them. So I think I'll take the plunge soon after I finish some work.
