Saying "democracy ruined North Korea" makes no sense because North Korea was never a democratic state.
Saying radical Islam ruined Afganistan is fine to say when you consider its affluent and cultured history prior to the Soviet invasion and rise to power of the Taliban.

Ironically, North Korea is known as the Democratic Republic of North Korea. They're as democratic as the Taliban are Islamic. Radical Islam is a different ball game.
