No fish & chips consists of a piece of fish fried in batter with a portion of chips.French fries is a term mainly used the US.
Yes, I know what fish and chips is and I know that American's only use the term french fries, what I was asking is are the aforementioned chips not roughly the same food as french fries?

I'm not doubting that but doesn't the meal "fish and chips" imply what Americans call french fries
I concur. :agree:

And they didn't call them French Fries either :faq1:
Yep. Every country likes to blame someone else for their weird cuisine.

Steak tartare in America is called filet américain in Belgium and Holland. WTF is up with that? Nobody wants to take the blame.

Or, as a former French housemate from Toulouse once told me, "This thing you have called 'French dressing'... I have never seen nor heard of it before."

Yes, but cut thicker, they're nicer than way
I know, the stereotypical American fries are usually served at fast food restaurants, we have thicker cut fries here too and they are fairly popular and much better tasting. And we call those french fries too. Its the same fries they serve at the british restaurant near my house

Yep. The French fry is an all-encompassing thing involving fried potatoes with a single dimensional axis that's longer than the other two axes, which are roughly the same. This is in our encyclopedic handbook of foreign-attributed foods.

Beef Wllington
Bangers and Mash
Fish and Chips
Sunday Roast

There's nothing else, how the fuck can you open a restaurant!?
Its not really a british restaurant its just a gimmick to steal money from stupid Americans, it mainly serves sea food, some british food, and the rest is hamburgers and hot dogs and shit, their clam chowder and Fish n chips are rather good though. Edit: Its british themed which is stupid, but the food allround is quite good
