I'd agree... save for the part about Sicilian wines. Many are fantastic. But Italy boasts a lot of great wines all over the peninsula... plus Sardinia to boot (no pun intended).

I'm a sucker for Piedmonte's soft grapes. I really like the Nebullo and Dolcetto a lot. I drool on Barbaresco's and Barollo's finest but lately I have been tasting Sicillian and it's just special. I don't know what the grapes are called there but after the few bottles I've had I am really eager to pay them a visit for further "knowledge"
