@Dheeraj - I tried installing Ubuntu from Windows... After the restart it gets installed to 100%, after which I get a blank screen with a blinking cursor... and it stays like that... I restarted the system again and selected Ubuntu as my boot option... Then I get a black tty screen asking for the username and password... what do I do next? or has the installation not taken place properly (I did it twice, and both times its been the same result)...

Did the installer tell you come up with a username and password? Have you tried to login?

I get the black linux screen, like the command prompt in windows... I log in with the username and password I set while installing... but I don't get a GUI...

I did, and no there isn't any Regional Restriction, for Games, or DVD's...
