So I'm talking to a guy at work who used to work in NYC. He says the difference is out here, they host parties to have more parties. Out in NYC, they host parties to fund their coke habit.

Burke's interpretation:

So I'm talking to this guy I used to work with about his trip to NYC to a party, he says they make enough money out there to but 12 keys, of coke.....Diet Coke, and I'm jealous.

I'm not going to say regrets, but do any of you, and this is to people over 19 who will say, "Yea, I should have not beat off in the bathroom so my mom found the tissue."

Really, do you guys ever think what your life would be like if you had made one or two decisions differently, and what were they?

I've said that myself. The times it isn't full time, and there are, requires something to keep you going too. Particularly, you need to find time to enjoy the situation you're in. When you're back to slaving like a dog for a man, you will wish you had that time back.

I hear you, the 40 hours I work week-to-week now are spent toward the shower and wiping my ass.

One of my favorite interview scenes on television was on The Tracy Ullman Show, which is known now mostly as the birthplace of The Simpsons as shorts at intermissions.

Dan Castellaneta, the guy who is the voice of Homer Simpson, is the interviewee. He comes into the interview room and finds a few paper clips, a rubber band, a piece of paper, etc., laying on the table. The test is how creative you can be with the materials at hand.

Dan C ends the sketch with a rubberband hanging off his nose, paperclips on his face, and a ridiculous paper hat on his head, saying, "Look! I'm a duck!" And does not get the job.

I think it's a character flaw of mine. But no. I actually don't have any real regrets. And I've done a lot of stupid, crazy shit in my time.

Look. I was thinking of going to Northwestern, saw the costs, and did the cheap shit route and went to UIC. I actually enjoyed it a lot and it hasn't hurt me at all.

completely agree, hence prefacing with no regrets but rather curiosity, my route was also the cheaper one. It doesnt gnaw at you to see people you shit on every which direction doing a harvard?

Well I can't start working as a pilot until I get my instructors license, which is still 1 license away (after Commercial i.e.). After doing all the part-time crap during my hs and college years I was holding off on having a job until I finished this flying stuff because it just makes it easier to schedule flying lessons. So finally back in January when I got the hardest license to get, I figured by summer I should be done and I can finally start working. But the plane I was training in crashed and I had to look for a different flight school then mother nature decided to be a bitch (and has been for the past 3 weeks) so now it seems I won't be done by June with my Commercial and then with the instructors license by August. So on the days I'm not flying (haven't in almost a month now) I do nothing and it's killing me

The curiosity was there, no doubt. Which is why I ended up leaving Chicago to work at a lab at Johns Hopkins. Then left that to grad school at Berkeley. And then worked for a lab at Stanford, where one summer I took summer graduate courses on Harvard campus. So the curiosity was there. But from what I saw? Sheeeeeeeeet. I wasn't missing a thing.

Well, it sounds like you're delayed rather than blocked. It sucks now, but you've still got your progression going for you. Might be an opportunity to pick up some fun experience in the "off season".

Appreciate it guys. It just sucks having my parents see me 'doing nothing' and having to explain myself time to time but I can't say they haven't been supportive about this.
