Go grappa then:

and treat yourself to the appropriate glasses as it tastes that little bit better.

I always find the correct glass makes the drink so much better.
Grappa for me was a good 8-9 years ago... Do you think you're dealing with an amateur here? That 1995 vintage bottle of Berta Roccanivo alone on the right, issue #0468, was one of only two available for retail sale in the state of Californeeeya. :D

That said, I love your taste in Nonino.

I've had raki before. Same thing as grappa I think. Very strong!

Definitely try it swag.
Raki was a couple years ago, along with arak. But I appreciate the suggestions, even if I wasn't asking for any. ;)

Oh, btw, agreed about the glasses. As you can tell, I am not only equipped for grappa and port, but also armagnac -- which was another thing I explored a few years back.

I have to say when it comes to drink I am a huge snob, I will never drink a Rioja from anywhere other than Spain, or any wine unless it is European, and by European I mean Spain, Italy, Germany or France, and that applies to my spirits, by which I mean that I drink whiskey from a country with a rich tradition of making it, the same for grappa, schnapps, brandy et al, as well as port and mead.
What's wrong with Californian, South African, Australian or Chilean wines?

Nice glasses.

Tried them and although pleasant, sometimes, they never went zing in the way a Rioja or Franken wine do, so I don't drink them as I only drink European, also I never drink wine with a screw-top.

There's a lot of subpar SA wines. But there are great wines from all over the world... Chile has some fantastic stuff, California, New Zealand, etc.

People get hung up on expectations and let it cloud their experiences a bit too much I think. Because it doesn't take 20 generations to make good wine, and just read The Judgement of Paris about this phenomenon. There's nothing so special about Bourgogne vines, grapes, skill and terroir that isn't impossible to reasonably compete with by making other wines in their own terroir in skilled hands. Maybe you cannot recreate a top-notch Grand Cru pinot in the Casablanca Valley of Chile, but dammit if you can't make something that reflects its own terroir and merits of its climate, soil, and grapes that nothing in the world couldn't touch. Nobody has a monopoly on good wine -- just look at Shiraz, Iraq.

Screw tops are another perfect example of the myths behind the aesthetic masking actual taste judgment.

If you're the curious type, bianconero, I strongly suggest you do some blind tastings in capable hands to prove it to yourself to get over your preconceived biases.

Which is why the only stuff I listen to in the past several years is in Italian, Portuguese, French, or half Afrikaans.
I could tolerate for a while, but it ask went away when I heard the same songs being over played at clubs. I've heard some of these songs at least 15 times in the past 3 days. Fuck you Akon, Sean Kingston, BEP, Flo-Rida, me no speak Americano, Justin Beiber and all you other hip hop artists for such music!

Sheik that isn't real hip hop though, Thats commercial bullshit, listen to Lupe Fiasco, Kanye's older stuff, and new stuff even though its not for everyone, Kid Cudi, Jay Z, Mos def, MIA, K'naan, Common and for some older more classic stuff A tribe called Quest. If your into British hip hop there is always dizzee's older stuff and The Streets are great. There is really good stuff out there. Just not the crap that is on the radio.

There you are a decent list :p

Most American hip hop has gone to shit but there is still awesome music being made by good lesser-known or older artists.

This is what I've been listening to lately -

All awesome hip hop.
