Maaaaaaaaaaaartin!!!!!!!! Missed ya

Hows the new place? All paperwork done?
Now that's a welcome! Missed ya too :toast:

New place is totally awesome. No more sharing facilities with unhygienic idiots or trying to drown out inane telephone conversations from across the wall. It's a dream come true, it's years that I've yearned for a place all to myself.

And no more long commute to work, I now go on foot.

so let me get this straight... If I click on one of those ads, just click on them, someone makes some money?
Basically, yes. It's based on estimates of how many clicks it takes to get a sale on some website etc. Some ads only pay when the visitor actually buys something, but others sorta amortize the cost of a click so 1000 clicks is likely to make a sale of 20 bucks, therefore the price of a click is 20/1000 etc.

When the internet was "new" in the late 90s lots of people thought advertising online would be hugely profitable. But people soon realized ads are not terribly profitable. I got a few advertising deals on Juventuz in 2001-2002 with some companies (betting companies mostly) that I'm pretty sure made an investment that didn't pay off at all, none of them made new deals with me.
