you've been cooking alot of thai dishes lately
For myself I actually turned it into more of a fire chicken vindaloo. The curry powder is actually an Indian tomato and basil blend, which I think is the same used for vindaloo. Basically straight curry and tomato sauce for the sauce. Such a nice flavorful, delightful atomic bomb right over your taste buds.

I love India and spicy foods.

that is so ridiculous its not war we re talking about it's a sport, just a sport you cant tell people who to root for or ask them for justifications why they go for this one or that one; you like the US coz you were born here fine thats your choice, i happen to be older than you and when i first started watching international football there was no US team on the international level i am not going to reeducate myself on the matter just to be good in some people's books. I also invite you to be consistent on one hand it's ok for someone not born in a country to play for said country but not ok for to cheer for them?
Exactly, it's not a war, it is football. I know many people hate nationalism because it breeds hate and eventually wars, but I'm only nationalistic when my country is playing football. You don't see me rooting on the decision makers when they kill a million Iraqis, or when they concoct wars for oil. These are matters of life and death for our troops, for people in other countries, so blind nationalism here is what is wrong.

What the hell is the World Cup supposed to mean when nobody cheers for their own country, even when they participate? International soccer is not about people cheering for whatever country they want and having players be tossed around like they are in club football. The World Cup is BASED ON nationality, not any BS like what little hairdo your favorite player has, so you cheer for his nation. It's fucking meaningless, so why even root for a country? Just stick with club football.

And we have always had a team, chief. My former coach Ray Vigliotti played for our Olympic team in the 80's, but since we didn't participate in Moscow because of the Afghanistan boycott, he didn't get to play. Know your history son and don't make up false crap.

Why do you HAVE TO support a team in the World Cup?

I absolutely LOVE the Euros, but I don't support a team because it would be nonsensical for me to do so. If some people here got their way, I'd have to support either Germany or Poland because my great grandfather is from the former and great grandmother from the latter.

Although I guess I'm privileged because those folks actually tried to assimilate, unlike some other people who just stayed in their own niche all their lives.

Andy- Well, I guess in the USA the World Cup fever isn't as big as in South America... It's not fun to watch such a big event without having a favorite, and in the particular case of my country, we've never been to a WC so it's normal to cheer for different teams.

In fact that is one of the biggest problems our NT has currently, they've gotten better but don't believe in themselves because we've gotten used to the fact that "we suck" and it's better to cheer for foreign teams

thats the first sensible thing i agree with, and i know damn well not only my history but that of the world you re welcome to challenge me on that any day.
OK, so why would you, someone who is obviously superior to me in the subject of history, claim that we did not have an international team when you became a football fan in the 80's? We actually had two, both an Olympic team and a full international side that failed to qualify for Mexico.

So yes, we indeed had teams that did indeed compete, but I guess you just chose to support a side in the World Cup instead, just like the minions do all over the globe.

You dont choose, thats what you fail to realize whether you grow up in a family that has strong ties to a particular country and that just sticks with you or on a random sunday afternoon you just become a fan of some team playing on it's fandom it's not geometry it's not supposed to be linearly logical there are many factors that go into that. My first world cup was mexico and ever since it's been italy for me for reasons i wont even go into since i already told why and because its ridiculous to even defend myself as if i'm doing something wrong. you're a cool kid but in this subject you re being a torquemada
