Not really, that's what they get accused of being by republicans but Democrats are far from being socialists. Americans also confuse socialism with communism.
Well it's the fact that socialism scares the crap out of them and the most socialist people are democrats, right? But still, isn't the US pretty damn socialist at this point? A highly malfunctioning and halfway unintended socialism but still.

I mean just recently the government was buying up private companies.

You didn't have the Saint part cheezeface. Add the Saint part and people get what you mean.
Yes, but then it would be way too easy. Perhaps Francis is not so much of a Saint in America as he is in parts of Europe. He's probably the one saint everybody knows. Which is why I didn't add the Saint part.

I wouldn't know who is a socialist because I don't think anyone wants to admit they're socialists here.

What makes you think the US is socialist at this point?

edit: You mean because of the bail-outs?

I don't think many non-Catholics in the US could name a saint other than Patrick or Jude.

And since when is Francis the patron saint of yard work? :D

Republicans and Democrats are all the same. Run by the same people, owned by the same people, and all supporters are the same. Bush bailed out companies, Obama bails out companies and screws over others by choice, and most just support decisions no matter how much they look like decisions of the counter party.

The whole US political system nowadays is one big moral hazard.

What is there to do at this point? The election is behind us, the people who fell for it got screwed. Although I don't imagine how the alternative could have been any better.

It's rigged. Two party system masquerading as effectively a one party system.

Hey, buddy, Frank is the honorable saint that gave my home town its name.

Maybe he's not as notorious as Saint John Wayne, the patron saint of children's clowns who bury young boys in their crawlspaces. But I'll take it.
