Over the past decade I kept hearing about Starbucks. People that go travel take a pic of the coffee etc. So they finally opened it here like 2-3 years ago and it turns out it's actuslly Starcocks. That's no coffee, that's just disgusting. Fucking overhyped BS
One of the things I respect about the Portuguese is yes, we do have like 3 Starbucks in all of Lisbon. And about 5 McDonalds and Burger Kings too.

And you see American tourists flock to them, like it’s a matter of survival … just like how they carry large jugs of water with them everywhere, as if expecting a Biblical drought that will instantly evaporate all liquids in this city.

There’s a kind of social curiosity about it, as if based in anthropological study. While not quite understood, it’s observed as a strange cultural ceremony — like an exhibit at the World’s Fair of some indigenous culture that builds mud huts with the women carrying water on their heads in grass skirts with their boobs hanging out.

My buddy from work likes it. So we went a few times, probably about 5 or 6 times. Told him the truth a few weeks ago that I stop paying €9 for that trash. We always took turns with paying

Coffee is serious thing in Sweden (one biggiest consumers per capita in world), so cafeteria culture is big part of social habits. So have lots of niche cafés everywhere, plus national or international franchises.

But one that has universally been shunned and virtually out of bussiness is Starbucks here. In the cities here I been to, and transport hubs. I dont recall a Starbucks still left standing anywhere I been around.

Hahah I wanted to use the word so bad, its litterally a state of being here in sweden. But I figured why bother when only Ali, JCK and tops couple others here would get it. But I underestimated what an international man of leisure you are :D

Yesterday at work was my turn to bringe some lush pastries to friday fika (not cuz it was expected, just my first days back at work after long vacation). Tho I'm not a coffee drinker (besides occasional latte or capuccino), more of a tea guy.

Their blended drinks are pretty good. But yeah, their regular coffee isn’t great. Dunkin’ (and your local coffee shop) is way better.

I must confess, the genius of Starbucks was in convincing millions of coffee haters that they actually liked coffee, just that it had to be in the form of a milkshake.

It's not an obsession, but good quality coffee makes a huge difference. The watered-down shit people guzzle or the gay-ass drinks served @ Starbucks do not constitute coffee.

Italian coffee, Turkish coffee, a nice Ethiopian roast, now that shit is legit. No need for milk, sugar, or any other "enhancers" which actually impair the taste - if your taste buds can't handle it, stick to the gay-ass frappuccino shit.

That and you just don’t see much more than the occasional caffeine T-shirt or dumbass coffee quote mug.

Compared to weed fiends - who practically tattoo leaves all over their bodies, clothes, and cars - they’re like comparing fans of Danilo to stans of BTS. They wear more leaves than Canadian backpackers.

Starbucks regular coffee and espressos are decent tho. Same with their iced coffee.
