I mean I get his point and everything, I know a guy that once had to cut a man's seatbelt to get him out of a burning car on the highway once. I imagine it could be made more difficult if the door is locked. Still I can't imagine not getting into a car and locking the door immediately after.

I’d never lock my own door after getting in, but I’ve never lived in a place where being carjacked is a worry lol. Modern cars all have automatic safety locks that trigger as soon as you start driving. I believe it’s in large part a child safety feature due to some unfortunate incidents with kids exiting moving vehicles.

dont know if its the same in Germany, but in the Netherlands doors don't open without a key from the outside.

So, if i go out during the day and i knew someone was in, i wouldnt have to take a key.
