Please refer to link i posted, words have to mean something, this is not to underplay the plight plaguing your people
In what way do you mean? You asked if people /children were starving somewhere and were giving an answer as an example of real crisis (one of only handful countries that are severely affected by it).

Not sure I'm getting the contention. Is there some type of scope or meaning to famine or starvation you are differentiating?

There will always be someone 'starving' somewhere for whatever reason but can't be just throwing the word around in reference to famines or starvation crisis for a country, there are standards as per link i posted otherwise the word stops having a meaning

If it helps me getting japanese girls i'll somehow survive it.
Then you sir are set ;) learn some Japanese

@X I've tried to look at this thing from every angle I could think of, but the only way I could see your point is that most of the children affected die not from a lack of calories technically speaking, but from a lack of certain nutrients or from diseases that can only kill them because their immune system has been so severely weakened by hunger.

So if you're being pedantic, and understanding starving as "dying from hunger", you have a point technically. But that's like saying no one has ever died from AIDS, because they're being killed by other diseases after their immune system has been sufficiently weakened.

So I really don't get your angle here. And I know one liners are cool and all, but sometimes it would really help if you explained your point a bit more in detail so that we don't have to guess so much of where you're coming from :p

:weee: i'll give it a try.

Do you speak japanese, or some sort of business japanese? :p

How about english? Guess it should be ok as long as you stay at big cities, like Tokyo for example, but will probable get you nowhere if you want to travel through the countryside.
I used to be fluent, now i struggle but get the job done. And your assessment is correct.

Yeah, the word "starvation" shows up exactly once :p

Not sure how anything in it disproves the original point of there being a lot of starving children out there in the world.
Oh come on, you know we were talking on a big scale, like i said there will always be kids starving everywhere unfortunately. But in the country scale there arent at the moment thankfully.

3 million deaths a year is pretty big imo

Millions of kids are still dying of hunger though, and pretty much all the overweight kids are from very different areas & families than those starving 30 years ago.
I mean this was what I originally said, and don't see anything you said that would make me disagree with it.
