I just entered this thread, first time today and I see this... just jeez, wtf...

I'm not surprised Red doesn't like it. However, the general thought of sandwiches as bad is insane. WTF is wrong with you people? That's like the holy food...

No, they don't "always" aim low.
They have a lower ceiling, let's put it that way.

swag is just using sandwiches as an excuse to complain about America. :agree:
One of many. :D

I'd tend to go along with that.

I've had some pretty good sandwiches, but nothing great.

Can't say I'm a huge fan of pizza, though.

It's a good step up from a sandwich, but comes up short compared to a proper meal, in my book.
100% agreement, btw. In Napoli, the reason the pizza crust is soft is for similar reasons: so you can grab it hot out a window, fold it into quarters, and eat it with one hand on the go.

In general, I'd take a bowl of pho for lunch over either anyday if given the choice, and pho is pretty much meat, broth, and noodle peasant food. But at least it has some aspirations.

Yeah, that's when I like pizza.

Wandering around Italy, stick my head in somewhere and get a square of pizza as a snack.

In Napoli they put fries on Pizzas. They know nothing.

Sandwiches aren't bad, they're great for taking them along to eat where you don't have time to eat properly or as an intermediate meal on afternoon.

They're just no real properly cooked meal and shouldn't be the base of a diet.
