Facebook is more dangerous than people realize. It's kind of ironic because you can write something on the net and theoretically speaking anyone can find it, but they won't in all the other stuff. But on facebook people have a direct line to these things and so these stories about people getting in trouble over a remark, a picture.. well, they resemble more closely an equivalent event in a real life social situation.

If you stand up at work and say your job is boring, well that presents a certain problem. What about all the other people who are doing the same thing, it doesn't help the company if they all leave. So they don't want you to say things like that. It's a fine balance.

The minute you hear your grandmother talking about loading up some wedding photos on that facebook its time to get off that fucker. Seriously, its so pathetic. Why would you want to be on there? I get MySpace, because that was about young boys trying to shag young girls. But Facebook WTF? Let your mother see how drunk you where last weekend?

Sure, but this wasn't at work. Like the quote in the article: "Most employers wouldn't dream of following their staff down the pub to see if they were sounding off about work to their friends."

It's kind of a reenactment of social issues in real life. Things like people who want to get in touch with you that you don't like. Things like people expecting gestures you don't care about. Your boss wanting you to attend some personal event. All that stuff is present on facebook. And the stories that came out about people getting fired and stuff only reflect that they've managed their social life poorly.

Looks like nothing much has changed. I still agree with Claire :D

lol, you have a point but none of my parents would ever open up a facebook account. Besides, I've had facebook since it started in 2005 (iirc) and when it was only for U.S. college students.
