well I usually cut a deal where my friend would cook and I clean up :) but usually some friends can be very picky about that as well and can't stand how slow I am with cleaning that they do it anyway

I've accepted the fact that when I get married, my partner will cook and clean while I stay on the couch and watch Juve :D

Bummer. Time to order a replacement. Machine maintenance is something everyone should know how to do (the basics at least).
I know machine maintnance from costa, but replacing the heating element + the effort probably is worth more than the machine. I'd rather wait until i get my own place and get a decent semi-automatic :weee: (not keen on the automatics)

I get that, but I kind of hate having other people cook for me - im a bit of a control freak when it comes to cooking. I've cooked for myself since i was 10/11 so it feels weird not to cook for myself. Unless its something I haven't learnt to cook or in a restaurant. My girlfriend didn't know how to cook, but she asked me for lessons so now she does...cooking lessons on skype are strange.
It's more the idea of having someone rely on me that bothers me (someone who isn't my own child). Being constantly asked "what's for dinner?" got on my nerves.

Back in Uni i usually hired a cook who would come once a day, he did everything! from cooking to cleaning to sweeping the whole appartment to even replacing my sinks and faulty lights, selling anything old stuff i did not need, paying my bills. Like a perfect wife (cept the sex and fighting part:D) cum assistant cum best friend evaaa! :touched:

I love to cook only when i have everything washed, cut and ready in different plates and bowls (like in those cooking shows) and if i dont have to clean up after.
Mise en place, bitches!

You're right about the expense part. But you'd be surprised what you can do with a schematic, a part number, and maybe a new tool to buy. I replace my gaskets and seals on a regular basis now that I forced myself. There's enough info on the Internet to do that right now too.

And I have a fully manual (lever) machine, but I like it.

As opposed to internalised vomit?
I throw up in my mouth when I see Allegri on TV sometimes.
