I've had a Vaio recently, awful stuff.

I'm quite happy with the one I use at uni, but I guess anything is good for running word + jstor and copy paste.

Well I kind of need a new one now, and don't envisage getting a deal any time in the next few days, or making any more money...I can get everything I need from the Vaio, and pay a lot less.

Nah, I exaggerate. At my previous company it was the standard company laptop and people were relatively meh about it. But you can't determine the build of a laptop based on the brand anyway, they can put out one that's well built today and then a garbage one three months from now, all depends on the suppliers, the integration etc.

dont you get the student version since you;re a student? i also belive mac give a student discount, and by combining the 2 you get windows basically for free
