It is a mixtape lol, the quality of mixtapes are higher past year or so. They release free music that's doper then most studio albums just to create buzz. Nowadays it's Rap its not enough just to release an album every other year. You have to remain super active and release several projects. It's mainly due to Future and Rick Ross that spur on others to do it by releasing tons of mixtapes and an album every year (Drake too, but that dude can release anything and it would go viral).
