Are we thinking about the same player and same tactics?
Motta's tactics demand precise passing, possession rotation, and first touch from almost every player but ESPECIALLY the midfielders and the CAM because with quick touch distribution and passing poor first touch or poor passing is literally the death of that tactic.
Weston has an awful first touch and has awful passing outside of his crossing last season. This guy regularly brutalized our midfield possession and was a common culprit in us losing possession. How the fuck is he going to get anything done in Motta's system much less contribute to the cycling of possession using quick touches to breakdown opponents?
But hey I'm an American and a Juventus supporter so if he can suddenly become a totally different player than the one we've seen the last three years I'm all for it. I want nothing less than to see these dudes succeed.
We talking about different aspects my man, he doesn't need to be masterful passer, Mckennie is our best CM for off the ball movements and penetrative runs into the box for past years. He thrives on it, that final 3rds action is key in Mottas system. I watched Bologna , and the drilled movement was just as key as the passing.
And half their players weren't good passers, but they were drilled to play on basic first time short passes and move in synch. 1-2 of the mids were expert passers, but rest were mainly athletic players running alot into space and playing simple passes. And do coordinated runs into the box. This is something that suits Mckennies skillset.
I dont care wether he stays or goes, but if he does, IMO he will suit Mottas tasks of a nr 8. Similar way to how Ferguson did.

And I get it, but you dont reinstall a player with 2 days left to begin the tournament, and most important you dont go out and say "this player is out of the coach's plans" and then he agrees to reduce his wages and now suddenly he talks to the coah and he is "in his plans"...
This only would proves that there are no "Motta plans" there are "Giuntoli's plans"
That's the thing people don't get. Players with expiring contracts have very little to do with Motta or football reasons. It's club mandated decision to freeze them out because they don't wanna renew or be sold. So their hand is being forced.
This is Mckennie and Chiesa.
The others who don't have expiring contract are the ones who Motta actively frozen out for football reasons. Motta does not want Rugani, De Shittio, Kostic and Arthur because he doesn't think they good enough.
Its not hard to read between lines in terms of who club is trying to force their hands for financial reasons and who they feel aren't just good enough.

Whether it worked or not depends on who you ask. Sure, the player stays and Jungtoli doesn't have to give out additional money. But what about team morale? What about having a team ready for the season? Season starts Monday and we still have people frozen out and probably not ready to play unnecessarily.
Why did Fagioli get a rise by the way?
These are professionals, I doubt it effects team morale because they know this is a bussiness first mindset both for the players and the club, so they know this dispute is about contract issues and being forced out for financial reasons. We seen big clubs be callous like this for decades so it's not new. So the players themselves know it. They used to it. I mean Motta told Soule he wants him to stay and likes him, but he still left for financial reasons and player understood and accepted it. They just move on to next best opportunity financially and carer wise.
You seriously think it effects them that much? If you think that, why did Mckennie have his best season last season? Because he went through worse last summer lol Club took away his parking space and locker room space and told him gtfo all summer. He stayed and still hanged in there and started playing good.
I agree its silly to let it drag on so long, but I doubt they are that worried about the first 1-2 weeks of the season like we are as fans. They used to absences or slow starting players fitness wise, so they calculate they can do without this or that for that short period until window closes.
But yeah I agree it's odd this time, mainly because of the massive quantity of players they doing this to same time. Usually it's 1-3 players not a third of the squad.
