Definitely. But Pirlo doesn’t seem to think the others can play in a three, so this will be a good test of Italian stubbornness.

I would like to see McKennie with a defined role where he is box to box with the ability to clean up and press where needed. People here seem to think his footballing IQ is low but I think otherwise.

Right now it's only a 3 mil expenditure. Cheap when you think of the wasted money on departed players who didn't meet Juve's expectations. You're right DAIDEVIL though with COVID even wealthy owners have to watch their spending. Sure be nice to have an extra 6 mil to spend.:rolleyes2:

I don't think we should take up that option unless he improves significantly. Having said that, I'd like to see him in a more DM role, where he runs around, harries opposition players and cleans up. He seems to have the heart, tenacity, and other intangible attributes to excel in that role. I don't want to see Arthru or Rabiot trying to play as DMs. In fact, I don't want to see us deploy a 2 man midfield, unless we're playing a 4-2-3-1 formation.

True, but you arent getting top quality starters for this cheap figure in friendly loan deal, so his deal is fine IMO, young with chance to improve for backup role, when we clearing out old mids. Its us going for other "marquee" choices in midfield that were super underwhelming for last 5 years thats the issue. Sign free agents for starter roles and think it will be ok.

a McKennie type is more of a project, he wasnt signed for more.

Of course we're signing him. You don't 'loan' a player for 3m + full wages without pretty much knowing you're signing him. At this point it's just a payment plan between us and Schalke.
