Let me try this again: He did well, as in, making little to no mistakes, when playing in the CM role in a 352 which AGAIN goes back to one of my initial arguments some players were brought with the intention of a different formation than the one we are playing now.

Romulo was unlucky to get an injury, you can't blame Marotta for that. He was actually doing well IMO settling in quickly. Also, Pereyra needs to be a CM or even a winger but certainly not behind the strikers. I will wait to pass judgement on him until he is deployed in a more favorable position for him.

I try to put myself in the boards shoes. Take Conte leaving, for example: The players we brought were they players Conte wanted and what Marotta had planned for or did the short notice of signing Allegri and Conte walked complicate the mercato? Allegri took over a major club 2 days after preaseason started so he needed to see what he had at his disposal and by the time any recommendations could be made on what he might need half the mercato was over already. Furthermore, we planned for a 352 and Allegri said it himself plenty of times that the system was working so why change it until it was necessary which he did.

Pereyra & Romulo, and Ill go out on the limb and say it, did better in the old formation. Thankfully we got Evra because no one knew Asa would get hurt for as long as he did and I know you hate him as a LB but you don't like Chiellini as a LB either.

Romulo was bought injured and he was used before he completely recovered. It is the club's fault he is injured, nothing to do with luck.

Pereyra played in the middle and did nothing worthy so why all of a sudden he will become good in that position? He simply won't he's an average player at best and Padoin is a much better option. He will always be a total waste of money. And no, Conte has nothing to with anything and actually the players we have are not the players that Conte wanted. Conte was used as a scapegoat and we all joked about, Conte wants, Conte does not want. In fact, Conte is no longer at the club because of how we operate in the market.

Then comes the signing of Allegri on short notice, that has to be by far the most panic decision any club has ever done. Also blame lies on Marotta.

here is a thought, get good quality players. Don't spend the money you got on a number of players you don't need and scream 'depth"!!!!'. Juventus is a complete team only missing that one or two quality players. Stop wasting the money you do have on 5th choice Pereyra and Morata.

so we paid 15 mill for someone to make little to no mistakes? well usually that is what you expect your players to do isnt it? Do you really think the board and Allegri alike believed that the 3-5-2 was going to continue under allegri? of course not! again the board planned poorly just as they did the summer before last when Conte wanted wingers to switch to a 4-3-3 instead we ended up spending a large chunk of our budget on a back up defender (ogbonna)

I agree with that. I wouldn't rate Immobile based on his performance with Dortmund now. You wouldn't do that with Reus oder Hummels.

And you will see my position change next summer if bigger names aren't signed which we both agree we need. But I think it's safe to say, its much harder to bring those big names in winter.

And I say last summer was the last mercato for depth because I think it was still necessary and in lieu of our injury issues now I am even more convinced it was necessary. Now we have a nice cushion of players that make minimal mistakes when called up we can start improving our starting 11. (and hopefully continue our youth scouting )

Lastly, one more quick point: And I will call this genius on Marotta's part, if true - we have some talent youth out there playing and Marotta is possibly banking on them becoming Juve starting material which would be a cheaper more affordable option than splurging outside of Italy. Take Berardi, for example, the kid is doing quite well. He would close a fraction of what it would cost to bring a youth talent his age from outside of Italy.

Exactly. No one and I mean NO ONE expected Llorente to bomb the way he has.

At this point with the lack of goals coming, I'd be willing to start a formation that suits him more than anyone else simply for the fact we need him scoring again. Instead of building around Pirlo or Pogba, build it around Llorente's strengths and the rest of our players are all tactically strong enough to adapt. Llorente isn't.
