I fear we'll run into a similar situation as Milan did with their ageing squad.

Morata and Coman are steps in the right direction, but currently we are taking one step forward two steps back.
lol yeah Milan situation always pops in my mind when I think about it. But it seems we're directly replacing Barzagli with Bonucci which can't be a bigger disaster. So I don't have high hopes really.

Rugani, Zaza and Berardi will all be coming back in the Summer, there's three players under the age of 23. Add in Sturaro too who's been excellent for Genoa.

Btw, if memory serves me right, during the period when Sneijder played at Inter (under Mourinho, when they won everything) he was really good and made a huge impact. But... that impact was only for Serie A. He played great in Italy, scored some, assisted some goals and played very good. BUT, bar his first season when he did great, he was actually really bad in Europe and one of the players they always needed to step up -- which he didn't. He never showed up in Europe when it mattered, after his first year I think he barely even scored/assisted there.

Having in mind that even while doing great in Serie A he was never a type of player to bring numbers on the table. I think he was very good and provided Inter's flow, he did great connecting midfield and attack and while being a valuable player and one of their key engines he was 'only' providing like 5 goals and 5 assists each season. And hell, those were his best years. I actually did like him quite a lot back in the days, but people should be aware he's 30yo and hasn't played on that level for quite a while. So people shouldn't think he'll be the one to carry us in Europe since I highly doubt we'll see that happen. It depends how the deal would be structured but it's quite annoying we're chasing a washed up player like Sneijder. Not just that, but I don't think we'll be able to sign him without a heavy contract too. He's the only I'd really like to have here, but only as a back-up, which we're not doing obviously. Getting him to be our starter for at least 2, but most likely 3 years? Eh. That's not really optimistic in my books. I'll still wait and see if we even buy him, but if we do, I'd like to see terms of that frustrating contract.

I don't think Zaza will come here.

Sneijder was an integral part of Inter's Champions League win..... Hence the calls for him to be crowned Ballon D'or that year...

Thought we finally stopped signing washed up players in January, guess I was wrong.

If we signed him it wouldn't be a disaster, but this guy can't add much to out starting 11.

Just move Pogba behind strikers and pull Vidal back to his usual position. I think Pogba at AM would even be better then Nedved in 2003.

Our possible starting line-up (age) beginning of next season with the signing of Sneijder.

I can't be the only one worried about this?

I think you pushed it a bit too much.

Zaza will never be good enough. At least Morata has some potential.

I think it's safe to say Barzagli won't be starter anymore. He most probably will be back to full fitness around May if he's lucky. A whole year without football is a real deal and he's not that young anymore. Bonucci was pretty good so far he's criticized way too much in here.
When Asamoah comes back he'll bench Evra easily. In midfield I wouldn't count Pirlo as a starter anymore. It's not even that obvious if he stays with us for the next season IMO. A couple of Super cup substitutions-like and he'll be in conflict with Allegri once again. If Pirlo won't be a guaranteed starter he will leave.
As for AM I hope we pull Shaqiri off, Snejider is simply a garbage transfer. We'll be better off with playing Berardi/Coman there. With Snejider we'll delay our problems a bit but we won't achieve anything he's way past it.
As for Llorente I wouldn't be so sure. Morata has everything to bench his sorry ass bar finishing. If he finds his proper boots Llorente will hit the bench for good.
We also have Rugani, Suturaro and Berardi coming back. It's not that bad when it comes to age IMO we just lack WC players (especially upfront) and a proper coach. Allegri is not bad so far, maybe even decent but to achieve something more we'll need to do better.

Allegri himself said how Sneijder is good enough and how he's what Juve needs right now. So I guess he's our priority at the moment.

Makes me think why Coman doesn't get his chance when we're so desperate to get something new upfront.

Oh right, :gsol: he's too young and lacks experience :gsol: same experience that he's getting by sitting on the bench.
That's the problem I have with Allegri. His interviews are very good, he's criticizing 'The Italian Way' all the time but then he does it all exactly 'The Italian Way'. Coman is an example here but Morata - Llorente is even a better one. Now he'll play useless Sneijder for two years while Coman and Berardi will be wasted but also a lot of money for wages. And then you wonder why Italian teams suck in Europe

:howler: Way to contradict yourself buddy. The $#@!ing writing is on the wall. Sneijder hasn't been relevant for a long time. Why are people trying to justify acquiring this former Merda sack of $#@!? It's $#@!ing baffling and infuriating. We don't have to take risks with old geezers every single time. How about we go for youth or not buy anyone at all? Cannavaro was a $#@!ing disaster the 2nd time around.
 I'd +rep you bro but I have to spread.

Did we pull the option to buy on Pereyra yet? Despite that, I don't know why you hate him so much. Sure, he had bad games, but he has also played exceptionally well in others.
Excepetionally well? I don't like him because he adds nothing to the team, he has no real role and is simply there to fill whatever space is needed and when he does he hasn't contributny ed to anything, he does not recover possession, he does not pass, he does not shoot on target. He's like Padoin but only worse.

Zaza will never be good enough. At least Morata has some potential.

It looks bad, but I think football is also evolving. Players will soon be able to peak until at least 35 and with the added experience, they will probably start to be better players than the under 30.

Although I must admit that I have not looked into this deeply and do not yet have the statistics to back it up, it looks like a natural evolution on the surface. In the near future however I would still worry about starters who are 34 and over: for now this is still considered pretty ancient for an athlete.
