IMO we need a defender to understudy Cana and Thuram. I don't think Thuram will last beyond next season. Cana has possibly a season more than Thuram, 2 if we are lucky...
Then we need a Mascherao kind of defensive midfielder, one that can dictate the pace of the game single handedly. Emerson is good, but the last person who could really do that was Redondo.

when you are certain about why aren't you a millionaire? nothing can ensure a win on the football pitch. business in soccer is always connected with a high risk. sure there are clubs like ManU which can deal with it (how long..?) but the majority of soccer clubs dont roll in money.
spend money for a machine and it will produce a certain amount of goods during its lifetime. spend the same money for a promosing youngster who was scouted in South America. What will you get back? You don't know, but the money is gone.
in general, the valuation of players is questionable. what do these figure represent? 50 million € for Buffon. What for? A lump-sum for his development of skills? 50 million, really? did they coach him with gilded balls?
would you take responsibiltiy for spending in all the players mentioned in supporter's daydreams? What if you invest big but can't win during your coming season? What if you fail your objectives by hitting the post instead of scoring (e.g. in a CL quarter final)?
The formula: Soccer stars + Big Club = A Winning Circle is an obsession.

I think Moggi's decisions have been dissapointing the past few seasons. Sure seeing Emerson, Zlatan and Cannavaro join is great, but selling players like miccoli, maresca and keeping tacchinardi and appiah surely must make you think he could have been sniffing something he shouldnt have.
Juve does have money, and they do spend wisely as well as sell wisely. Right now, i think Moggi and the club are being too loyal to certain players. The likes of Montero, Iuliano, Pessotto and birindelli should have been sold two seasons ago.
He is no longer rotating strikers in and out of the team like he was in the late 90's. Del Piero and Trezeguet for example are two player who could get a lot of cash for the club but Moggi doesnt want a bar with selling them.
Moggi will never spend 50 million without selling at least 35 million in that same transfer market.

we couldnt sell the players u mentioned last season cause we really had a bad season, football is in economic crisis and we would loose big money selling them all back then,
(we did tryed to sell treze to barca but not for the money needed to replace a name like his)
we were forced to sell some(too many wages to pay and we did win nothing-so we prefered by wages and quality who could give us profit DV,micco,maresca)
but moggi was smart and made his trick, he kept those players let them start the season and when juve was on top and considered again valuable team with valuable players, he then started selling/loaning what he could obtaining better prise than june-july,
we do buy and sell very wisely but there is a great lack of investement,

I suppose we have to look at what the coach plans for the team as well. Capello was key factor in getting Emerson and Zebina for example. He stated he wanted the 4-4-2, so Moggi kind of bought for that system, hence kapo and olivera, two surprise players when you think about it.
What concerns me most is that Juve has many young promising players on the books already, and yet, they rarely give chances to tehse players. Olivera has finally broken into the team, but he was on loan for 2 or 3 seasons before getting his chance. Maresca proved himself at Bologna, then Piacenza and even at juve, and he was half sold. Miccoli is the same. We have others on loan such as Gasbarroni. A good young winger who could give the team something extra. But Moggi wont look at him at all and would go for something else. Chiellini is another player who comes to mind now.
So I think Moggi can do better in terms of promoting young players and saving money there.
