only chelsea, man u and real can get torres....he is waaaayyy to expensive for anyone else, especially us.
Why would we even want Torres? He's spanish, and we all know how that works in Serie A. Furthermore, we've already got Miccoli who plays the same position and is just as young. What's the point?

Torres is jus under 5 years younger than miccoli
Okay, so they aren't the exact same age, but what I meant is that both he and Miccoli are young stars for the future. Why buy Torres when we've got Miccoli and they play the same position?

Well theres a big diference between being 20 and 25

Anyway... I dont see them playing the same role... torres has been a target man most of this season... even playing in front of raul as target man for spain

Personally i wouldnt buy him, cause he'd cost too much and hes spanish... spanish/serie a dont mix.

torres is already a star, but i dont see miccoli as a star for the future, hes been average when hes had the chance this year, and quality players dont generally emerge at 25.... top players show by the time they are 20/21

Miccoli i see as a great bench man and pos supersub... no more...jmo

Smith is not the type of striker we need. We need someone who is powerful and can head in goals, like a target man. Someone like Ibrahimovic! How many times do we need to say this!?! We don't need Alan Smith, sorry.
Ibrahim is tall, thats true,but....the fact is that Zlatan is also a ***** and he avoids a contact as much he can...........he is more a player of a feint & technique. If I could bet who jumps better I would put my money on Smith!

Just because he has footskills does not mean that he is afraid of contact. That's not true at all. In fact he often gets into trouble because he is too physical.

but is he a point man that we need??...maybe we should think of a more varied thing, some one who can hold the ball up and header..not jus a point man.

You see, that's just the thing. Y'all are arguing over whether we needa point man, or somebody who can hold up the ball, or somebody who can head the ball...Zlatan can do all of these things. He can take highballs down and pass them to pacier forwards who run off of him, or he can make runs himself to get open for passes from creative players like Del Piero and Nedved, or he can take the ball himself and challenge defenders head on. He can alos take crosses and score with the head, he's a good finisher, and he can even be a creative player and dristribute because he passes well. Anything that you want out of a forward, Zlatan will give you that.

I would take Raul and Henry out of that list, but I could see Zlatan being very much like Shevchenko, RVN, or Vieri. The only thing is that he has better footskills than any of them, but he's probably a little less good in the air.

i agree.he has decent skills and a good finish, just like the three of them.

it'd be awesome if he turns out to be as good:)

I have trouble with the comparison between Shevchenko and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

IMO, Van Nistelrooy is a striker. He scores. He hardly ever creates.

Can hardly be said about Shevchenko.

Zlatan is more of a creative forward btw.

I watched Zlatan come off the bench the other day against Vitesse, and though there was no pressure on him, he was very impressive. He definitely has good footskills, with a nice finish and efficient, sometimes cheeky, passes to go with them. I think he's the perfect guy as he can be a target man for DP and Neddy to look for, or he can take matters into his own hands when service to him isn't good. Trez can't do that, and I'm more than certain that Zlatan is capable of making space for the players behind him simply by throwing around his body and making intelligent runs. We hardly see any of this from static man Trez.

What I do is compare players by position, meaning that I'll only compare two players if they play the same position, and it's not like if Ruud and Shev play different positions, right? The way I see it, Shev is just better because he does things that Ruud doesn't, even though they have what is basically the same role. Comparing Del Piero and Trezeguet would be much different since they have different roles, but as far as I'm concerned, RVN and Shevchenko have the same role.

Zlaza just hasn't got what it takes. So please lets hope that we don't get him. Nice player though he is. But we don't need good we need great. Keep Trez, let Del, and ned go, and bring in Jaoquin and Torres.

Hm alright I understand but personally it strikes me as comparing a centre back to a right back, to some extent.

But I see what you're getting at, the difference between RVN and Shevchenko can indeed be neglected as it's not THAT big.
