Held France to a 1-1 draw today in France, gave very few chances too. lot better than $#@!aly could do
Ah. You're resorting to glorified friendlies. Also, France had 19 shots in total, 8 on target, and America only 2, in addition to 31% of the possession.
Italy are trash; I never said otherwise. This is easily the worst crop of Italian players since, well, since as long as I can care to remember.
Whereas Italy
finished second only to Spain in their UEFA qualifying group, it was the two-legged defeat by Sweden in the play-off that stopped them qualifying for the WC. Italy might not be as good as they used to be, but Sweden are no mugs either. That was an unfortunate draw when they might as easily have been paired with N.Ireland, Eire or Greece. They actually did okay in the group phase, only lost one match, away to Spain.
USA found themselves below Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and Honduras in the CONCACAF hexagonal. Above just one team, Trinidad & Tobago. There really is no comparison. Italy are having a bad spell, and lost a close two-legged knock out to an established European footballing nation. USA are just an appalling football team, and that's a shame given the resources they have in comparison to their CONCACAF peers.
France treated this latest friendly game as a fitness session, a warm-up, an opportunity to refine tactics etc. The result will mean nothing to them - win, lose or draw. To be honest, I'm surprised this many games were played on Sat as close as it is now to WC itself, and when France open with a big game against Australia on 16th. Can only assume they thought more tickets would get sold for a weekend game, than in the previous midweek.
