Zach, he went cleats first into a tackle and while I agree he didn't push his leg through he did hit him with some force, and what was his foot even doing up there? He can never win that ball and he tackled over the ball.

Now see the footage again. Marchisio couldnt reach the ball, defender went in good for a standing tackle, and marchisio pulled the knee up out of protective reflex and to block the guy.
