This reminds me of the days of Usenet where people created newsgroups as if they were shrines to their pet topics that few others saw as different or separate enough from the existing discussions. CLOSING & MERGING

Nobody wants to have to decide between 2-3 threads where to post something about Ghana.
ghanas!

This thread has given me cancer, aids, gonorrhoea, explosive diarrhoea and syphillis

Amazingly shit discussions going on.

good job on packing so much ignorance and arabism in one post, nasser would be proud :p
I am as far as anyone can get from being Nasserist or arabist or whatever. For starters I am a strong believer in capitalism and there is nothing that I want more than to leave the arab world permanently. If you have ever seen my discussions with Turk you'd know how I feel about Qatar's politics in particular. Having said that, I do believe racism is rife and is connected to the huge support that the calls to withdraw the 2022 WC from Qatar is receiving. I see the traces of that same racism in the hate directed at PSG and City in contrast to Chelsea. Fans always whine that Arab money ruined football and not Italian Money (despite Berlusconi) or Russian Money (Chelsea). In any case, my main point wasnt about racism its about whether Qatar should hold the WC or not. If brazil were allowed to host despite being a corrupt shithole, in serious political security instability and didnt prepare for the WC as they promised then Qatar should host despite corruption allegations or hot weather.

I wholeheartedly believe that a world cup in Qatar will be serviced a 100 times better than anywhere in latin america and especially brazil and in even in most european countries. Qatar is rich, politically stable and has every interest in using the 2022 world cup to expand its tourism industry. Even if corruption was proven, the WC should be played in Qatar. All the money invested towards preparing for that worldcup should not go to waste. You cant just change your mind after billions were invested especially that there are no security risks involved.

Regarding racism, the self-victimization and the brandishing of the racism card at every turn imo are just as bad as actual racism. The awarding of the WC to a country with no football pedigree, furnace weather, and notorious reputation for slave labor(heck they hold people's passports) is a sham and with the only reasonable inference being corruption. Seeing otherwise imo points to extreme bias towards qatar.

Now to address your claims about the qatar WC. as for servicing the WC, apart from AFC 2011 we have no indication what qatar can and cant do on that scale and most stadiums are not built yet. As for the advantages of the country itself, it is rich because it's as big as compton with about 200k citizens, it's stable because it is an absolute monarchy that doesnt allow any dissent. And we as fans could care less about what the world cup would mean to the egos of a bunch of billionaires. The bold part is beyond ridiculous.

Im more pissed off over the fact that ALL countries bidding for this event were obviously aware of the fact that they were bidding for a June/July World Cup, which would obviously render a tournament in fucking furnace like Qatar impossible...but of course, Qatar win the bid, and now they talk of moving the tournament to January. Massively unfair and annoying to the other countries who participated in the bidding process.

I can change the players before the game.

@Knowah. Position doesn't matter, it's fantasy. I'm surprised you didn't knowah this.

Barzagli at rightback? Ramos at leftback? Iniesta at rightmid?
You do know it's a fantasy team and the purpose is to collect points based on their performance in real games, right? It's not like he is going to field these players and play against another fantasy team (ypurs for example) where you have a real RB at rightback and a real LB at leftback.

 seriously. If whatever is good formation in fantasy is 3-4-3 with all defenders being wingbacks, all mid's - attacking and three WC strikers. Its not the case in my team, but I feel reasonable. Lukaku on the bench as he had ankle problems

It's better to get a defender who scores some goals.

How the fuck has it come to be that people here are comparing Iniesta and Baggio when they play in two different positions, why don't we compare Buffon to Pele while we're at it?

To me Iniesta was always the better player between him and Xavi, no question about it. Take Iniesta away from Xavi and how effective is he?

It also seems to be hip on Tuz at the moment for people to take shots at Baggio, anyone who is old enough will know that he is without doubt the single greatest Italian player of the last 35 years. If Buffon says he's the best, who is anyone to argue with him?

People saying ''biggest choker ever'', what bollocks, he missed a penalty which wouldn't have mattered much in the end because Brazil would have scored in all likelihood and won the trophy anyway. People always overlook that he scored in the QF against France in '98 and the SF against Argentina.
