France? lol and vuvuzelas almost ruined the last world cup. The germans have it all to ensure a smooth WC where actual football takes center stage.
Dude, the vuvuzelas were the perfect troll for televised sports. If you heard them in the stadiums, they sounded cool. On television they sounded like an annoying swarm of sick bees.

Anything that encourages attendance over TV viewing is a major plus in my book.

because there just isnt a passion about the sport here, i think germany has all the ingredients
What was so endearing about South Africa is not just that they loved the sport, but that they loved hosting. They followed a little of that Arabic tradition where a guest is a gift from God and they welcomed visitors and the event with open arms.

The US won't have that warmth. But they'll know how to host.

Which is one of the reasons I've been repulsed by how Brazil has been treating this event and their opportunity to host the world. They are squandering the opportunity to instead make a public scene over intra-familial disputes, and hoping that all their guests get fucked over in the process.

Man, it's the World Cup. It's not like people get a chance to go there all the time.

True. But it's one way to fight back from all the technology and focus of the sport that's been moved away from the pitch and into the bowl of Doritos of some fat dude's lap in front of the TV 10,000km away.

    It has started: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup-2014/mark-lawrenson-column-italy-uruguay-3663388

How many players in the Italy side would get into our England World Cup first team?

I wouldn’t take any of them. Not even Pirlo. Italy just don’t scare me. Nor do Uruguay.

I think both those teams look at England’s rising stars and think to themselves: “If they have a good day they could hurt us”.

That’s why I feel a sense of optimism about England going into this World Cup.
I wondered at which point the quiet under-the-radar optimism brought by this young England squad might turn into the tried and trusted biennial arrogance and ignorance. But then Lawrenson is a Liverpool fan, so I guess he is basing a lot of this on their season.

England can quite easily win the game, but there is no need to set yourself as a dick about it.
