I'd love to see Suarez dive and get a penalty in the final minutes of the game to send England crashing out. Would be wonderful to see all that butthurt afterwards.

Seriously. That would be even better than seeing Italy win a 5th WC.
I wondered at which point the quiet under-the-radar optimism brought by this young England squad might turn into the tried and trusted biennial arrogance and ignorance. But then Lawrenson is a Liverpool fan, so I guess he is basing a lot of this on their season.
England can quite easily win the game, but there is no need to set yourself as a dick about it.
And this is why the whole world hates the England NT and their fans. Morons like that. Obviously not all English fans think this way, but there is a large number of them, and unfortunately, they are well represented in the media.

I think everyone has their own bias, and they draw conclusions from what they say week-in, week-out, but absolute comments like his about not one player getting in the England team is just a dick move. That's pub talk for people who don't watch any other football. Especially after what Pirlo did in the last game. Remember he and the rest of the Italy team were nobodies before that game as well.
It'd be so unbearable if England won the WC. Funny thing is, I've watched a couple of their recent matches and they actually put on a semi-likeable performance - more so than I can ever remember - but then I read comments like that and remember why I don't ever want to see them winning anything. Don't like judging teams only based on their (vocal) fans and media, but can't help it in this case.
England are a good attacking team for sure, especially when Rooney is not playing. If it wasn't an opening game I'd say it would be a very good attacking game from both teams, but the conditions may also play a part.
I expect a bore draw in the opening game in Manaus TBH
Italy will probably adapt to the conditions a bit better than the English, who will struggle to play at their usual high tempo in the humidity, but I can see both teams playing cautiously and perhaps playing for/being happy with a draw.
It's just that we have a lot of those "Daily Mail" and "Sunday Mirror" type fans here. One of my neighbors, an avid Man City fan (not Nick), is actually quite reasonable in his assertions and predictions tho
