How did they get lucky against Brazil?

And on what grounds to you claim Brazil to br the best team this year?
Beside what's been said here, let's also not forget how long I've been waiting for Julio Cesar to make a stupid blunder. Casillas does it every other week. Buffon once in a while. Julio picked a World Cup quarterfinal.

Shit 600USD?

I got seats that aren't that far away from yours. I was in the blue category too, but i was closer to the goal on your right hand side. My ticket was 120USD though.
Yeah, the general ticket prices are higher for semifinals. Seat-for-seat, I think it's at least 2x if not 3x over the group stage ticket prices.

I know, i didn't make it clear in my post, but i was surprised at how expensive a semi final is compared to a normal group game. I mean 600 USD seems too steep even for a WC semi final.
Oh, I was flabbergasted over the 600USD ticket price. That sounded insane to me. It's a small mortgage.

But I'm here, I figure how often I am in this situation, etc. I just lucked out that the tickets I did get were among some of the best of that section. There are 600USD tickets that are dozens of rows back and off to one side.

Meanwhile: all of Africa wants Uruguay out. South Africa included. They are now the most hated team on the continent.

Only he didn't. He shouted, was coming for the ball and Melo, who has been the worst player on the planet this season, decided to head it home. If you have someone who defends like that, there's nothing you can do as a goalie.

If it wasn't for Melo's arrogance, I'd feel bad for the guy.

He did obstruct Julio's access. Maybe Julio trusted his teammates too much there -- I couldn't hear the audio. But coming out in traffic like that is a rough order, and that goal changed the match.

If Melo had gone out of the way, he would have caught the ball without any problem whatsoever. IMO the goalie should try to get the ball there, if he doesn't go for it, it's lethal. Even amateurs are taught that in this sort of situation the goalie shouts and you get out of his way. It was an incredible mistake by Melo, IF Cesar said he was going for it. I assume he did, because Cesar has been a terrific goalie for years and Melo has been pretty much crap.

If youre a keeper and you come out your goal ,you should get it.
He made a mistake and don't tell me that Melo can jump higher then Cesars arm can reach. Easy to blame Melo. Cesar was just as wrong.

But Andries' point is that Julio probably called for it and Melo f*ed it up by attempting it himself.

It's a plausible scenario, given the reputation of both players this past year.

It's not about who jumps higher. He simply can't reach it because Melo doesn't get out of his way. At the same time he HAS to come, because if he lets it go it is a very dangerous situation. Melo gets out the way, he can easily pick it up. Almost all the blame should fall on Melo.

Problem is that we don't know if he called it or not. If he didn't, it's obviously his mistake. But as you say.. I think it's plausible he did call it.

No, it should not.
If the keeper comes off his line to claim the ball, then it shouldn't matter who is standing in his way. He has to catch that ball, or it is his fault. It's not like Melo really headed the ball past him either.

That being said, Melo could (should) be blamed for the 2nd goal :D
