in 2010 the general quality of the players had declined, and the managers have been idiotic, but i never expected anything flashy. In 2002 there were so many great teams, and they simply flopped. This time the teams that flopped were never that great anyway.

They should change the way that referees are ranked, and just pick the top 30, or however many they use, regardless of what countries or continent they come from.

Then 5 officials, then technology. In the England-Germany game for example, the 5th official would clearly see that was a goal.

You simply cannot use technology in selected tournaments, football is a sport that goes from school tournaments to the World Cup. If you are to use it in the World Cup, the Euros and the CL then you have to use it in every division in every country and this will not happen.

If technology is not used after this World Cup, the game has lost all credibility. You give the players a fucking plastic ball to kick around and you give them poor refs. You cannot expect them to perform when all circumstances around them tell them to fuck up. 2010 has been a disaster.

He's an international referee, he refereed in 3 World Cups, why would they keep on bringing him if he was no better than a few unknown referees from some Eastern european country that probably are mobsters or criminals anyway.

No one has ever used that argument in any other sport because every rational person realises that it's blatantly wrong. You cannot compare a tournament that involves billions of dollars to a tournament that's about nothing at all. If you're going to simply dismiss the need for better refereeing, I think you're directly saying you want your governing body to influence games.

And that is plain wrong. If technology isn't used in 2012, I will not watch the tournament. I will not believe it any longer.

No. It is not the same thing, Jack. It never was and it never will be. They acknowledge this in tennis, rugby, american football and just about any other sport. Well, the people who comment World Cups or EUROs here are usually some who won at the biggest stage, who played for the biggest clubs or coached the biggest clubs and the greatest players in the world and who know the game more than someone who was refereeing all his life in the Syrian league and who was representing a continent that in 1986 hardly had football.

It's just not fair towards the smaller tournaments. I don't really care for example as my country will never ever play in the World Cup nor they will ever be unfairly treated to miss on a World Cup.
