Nope, even if Real won the league Messi would have still been the better player. I am talking about their individual performances, the hat tricks and super hatricks that Messi scored against some really good teams, Ronaldo was mostly scoring against the Almeria's and the Getafe's. Messi scored more goals and indirectly assisted more goals than Ronaldo, he was undoubtedly better than Ronaldo throughout the season. He had a much better season, i really think your being very harsh on Messi by saying he only performed better in the Classico.
And Mallorca's and Valencia's and Villareal's and Espanyol's and Sevilla's and Depor's. You are not harsh on Ronaldo at all. He scored 8 goals less than Messi but his goal per match ratio is even closer to Messi's. He only had 3 assists less than Messi had. There was no such big difference between them at all. Ronaldo had a brilliant season.

How about the round of 16 in the CL, Ronaldo went missing against Lyon while Messi completely destroyed Stuttgart.
What kind of comparison is that? :shifty:

How about the games in the group stage where Messi went missing against Rubin while Ronaldo completely destroyed Marseille :shifty:

Which illustrates my point even more. Ronaldo went missing when the going got tough and the team really needed him. The round of 16 match against Lyon, the two classico matches, the last game of the season. Portugal against Spain.

And it has absolutely nothing to do with his overall performance in the season. Messi too has his fair share of such disappointing displays every now and then; when it mattered most against Inter in both legs or when he didn't even manage to move against Chelsea last season again in both legs.

It was not the point though as I was trying to say that Messi didn't outperform Ronaldo last season. I watched almost every game of theirs in the last season and Ronaldo was, without a doubt, an excellent player. You can compare their stats and there is no such big difference between them at all. Apart from the Classico games, Ronaldo shined in almost every game against both big and small teams of La Liga. The one who failed miserably against Lyon was Higuain on the other hand.

You seem to have a dislike opf the player that clouds your view, seeking to point out a few occassions he didn't play well (to his high standards0. To suggest he doesn't perform at the highest level, or when the going gets tough is just plain silly.
Against Spain with little to no support, as alone striker is not a good example to take, because I doubt Messi would perform well in thos circumstances.

Very well reasoned and near enough spot on.

Between the two players there is not a lot to choose.

Argentina coach Diego Maradona laughed off German criticism of his team's play, suggesting that it showed the Europeans were running scared ahead of Saturday's quarter final.

"We don't have time to think of (Bastian) Schweinsteiger, the boys are thinking about getting on the field and playing a 2006 rematch. So it doesn't worry me what he says about penalties, kicks, that we don't know how to lose, it doesn't interest us," the outspoken trainer insisted in an interview with Fox Sports on Wednesday.

"A different game is played every match and this is going to be different, because we are coming out to attack them and play in their faces. This is what has them nervous."

'El Pelusa' then faced directly into the camera and in his best imitation of a Teutonic accent posed the question to the German: "What's the matter Schweinsteiger? Are you nervoushh?"
