The elimination is ALL Lippi.

Yes, they really lacked quality, but even with the team he had at his disposal, the team he chose actually, he could have done more regarding motivation. He could have done more regarding tactics, players etc, and use those who actually had a good/great season.

The last 10-15 minutes showed that even with this seriously weak squad, Italy could have easily passed this group. Lippi fucked it up. Badly.
Not all, and you know that. Lippi can't take the rap for the individual brain farts we saw today, he can't run the line, he can't play in goal. He went with a solid team but it wasn't quite enough this time, other times it was. Italy always start slowly and one year it wasn't going to fall for them in that third game.

Just watching Quagliarella shit all over Slovakia's defence makes me wonder what Cassano, Balotelli, Del Piero, Totti or Miccoli (on one leg) could do.
Doesn't matter, they could have been great or they could have gone into hiding, it's all about the here and now and Quagliarella stood up for himself and did great, it's not about names or club form.

The players still have to play.

The players get all the llove when they win, the manager when they lose, grow up.

The players play.

You can take a horse to water but not make them drink.

The strange thing is that he still made good changes during each of the games, but couldn't put out a decent starting team in a good shape in any of the games.

Very odd.

If I play a disabled person in center defence it's my fault not the disabled person's. Lippi can take the rap for absolutely everything that went wrong in this tournament.

Yeah, the squad sucks, but Lippi was partly to blame as well. He's basically on the same level as Zach after he used Marchisio on the wing.

He takes much of the blame for any individual performance, JJ.

He had 1000 players to choose from and pick 23. Many people thought he made wrong choices and by making those choices, despite what the public wanted, he becomes responsible for many of the bad games and brainfarts they make.

Cannavaro is such a case. One of the many.

Yes, you're right, it can not be ALL Lippi, but boy does he hold a huge part, a major part, of the blame.

:hellyes: One big mistake from Lippi is his player selection. Marchisio as LM, Montolivo as first eleven in 3 matches, Di Natale (Serie A top scorer) played handful of minutes in 2 beginning matches, and Pirlo, Maggio and Quag only given chances in this last match. I don't know what can happen too if Quag, Di Natale, and Pazzini/Gila form a trident upfront.

Just watched the dire match and I'm shocked Marchetti was picked over players like Amelia, Abiati etc etc.

For all three goals a top draw keeper would have saved them all.

AND he must be the single slowest keeper in world football, even bloody Chimenti can come off the line quicker than him!

Why didn't Lippi start him over Iaquinta is a mystery. Can't believe he stayed on the pitch until the end :(
It's a mystery, but I think Quag should've started instead of Di Natali. Especially, with all the crosses flying into the penalty area, Pazzini would be a better option than IQ for sure.

I've always defended Lippi, because I love the old man, he's a legend. But I gotta say, he should be blamed for this elimination. No doubt.

He is to blame for every goal I agree but I doubt Amelia or Abbiatti could have made up for that shambolic defensive display.

what a load of shambles. Pathetic, but was so predictable and yes deserve to go out. Canavaro by far is the worst player ive seen in the tournament. Boy im so glad his gone to dubai. Though these results wouldnt have been possible without the likes of dozen or so others. Lippi lost the plot before the world cup by choosing a squad like this and even so he still didnt get the best out of his players tactics or anything for that matter.
