Why does everyone hate spain? I'm guessing most of you hate Spain because they play better football than your NT, and because everyone climaxes over their football? If that's the case, get a life. If you can't appreciate a good team playing good football, then you're an idiot. I don't even care that they lost to the Swiss, who I kind of like, but the amount of vitriol here smacks of bitterness to me

because the bbc never shuts up about

all they ever do is masturbate over spain and la liga , and take as many swipes as possible against italy and serie a. The fact is I don't hate Brazil, and they have there share of fan boys too, but the pro spain anti italian comments in this country has driven me to hate them

Apart from the words in bold, I strongly disagree with the other characteristics you give of the Italian NT. Italy don't play ugly, they do attack and they had/have some great attackers and also, it's a lunacy to say that they defend all game long.
You need to watch them more.

the only way to play football :D :anon:
I love it.

Shame no-one uses it any more.

I'm not a fan of the sort of slow, side to side, possession football they play and half the world creaming themselves over how they play and trying to compare them to truly great teams from the past just adds to the irritation of it all.

It's just that seeing hot favorites lose their first game is just exciting. You would've seen similar responses had Brazil lost last night. So relax.
Italy too play better than my NT :agree:
ALL 32 teams in the World Cup this time are better than mine too! :D

point well taken :D But whereas I am thrilled for the Swiss, who achieved a great result, most people here only seem to care because it gives them ammunition to lay in to Spain. I love an upset, and I don't care enough about the Spanish team to be bothered by the result, instead, I can appreciate it for the how unpredictable it was. Most people here only seem to care because Spain lost however, which isn't attractive. It's an utterly negative reaction

but who isn'T time wasting nowadays? and i have seen players from all over the world diving /kaka pfff jesus:D

i think they could play way more attractive under a different coach (hopefully prandelli) with players like cassano etc...
but in the end u don'T win anything with beautiful football...it's the result that counts in such a tournament...and overall they weren'T that bad in the past

dont let it get to you, and spain get it pretty easy compared to england and the azzurri :p trash talk is an integral part of life here

This Spain shouldn't be considered a historically great team like some Brazils or Germanys of the past until they win the World Cup. And in terms of the neutral perspective, most would like to see good possession and attacking play rather than defensive football. That's just natural as the game is about scoring goals.

But say, aren't you one of those who believe that better matches and teams are found in the Euros instead of the World Cup? if so, then by your own logic, Spain really is a great team.

Dude what the fuck? I don't even like Spain.

But the goal was offside. After the guy has gone past Casillas he passes it with his heel to the other Swiss. There's only one Spanish defender left, so it's offside.
:D just messin man...

will take your word and watch the replay later at home..

Isn't cheating and diving a "part of the game" now? Or at least English media make it sound like it ...

I totally agree .. I do like the Azzurri more than other teams. They have their antics alright but they play a brand of football that I like and have enjoyed throughout the times I have been a Serie A fan.

I don't blame anyone who'd think I'm a "fanboy" or call me insensible.. After all, I don't even watch our local league. And I also understand why would anyone hate on azzurri .. It's just how things are ..

perhaps you're right, and I should just chill out ;)

@ Red; Maybe they aren't comparable to Brazil 1970, but there's no denying that this Spanish side is very very good, whether or not "possession football" wets your whistle

But you'll act similarly if this happens to...say, Manchester or Chelsea, right?

I disagree with you but I can't help notice that what you're saying is pointed at the exact same people who will say the same things you say when Italy loses and some others celebrate that defeat.

Hypocrisy at its best (not from you Henry).

I celebrated Spain's defeat like mad today, simply because I really dislike Spain. Not a single member attacked me. I will do the same thing if Italy loses, and then I suddenly become a troll who's celebrating Italy's defeat just to annoy people.

Gosh, some are fucking unbelievable.

Same here.

Watching a team simply pass the ball from side to side is just as boring as a ultra defensive side.
